About The Crondall Brewery
HOW IT ALL STARTED
David's dream came true!
When I was a small boy I always dreamed of owning my own brewery. During my time working as a electronics computer engineer for several seismic companies and for Cray Reasearch I studied for my science degree with the Open University. My keen interest in the science of brewing gave me a solid background for the future to ensure that I could meet the demands of producing a quality real ale.
Before Chrissy and I were married, Chrissy set up her own hydrotherm therapist business working with austistic children and adults, a very specialised area. Her background before starting her own business was again very different as a company secretary for PriceWater House and many other companies and finally Amari metals.
There came a time when we decided to form The Crondall Brewery because firstly we had the basic skill sets and we wanted to work together making a product for local distribution. We managed to find an old granary barn just outside the village of Crondall set amidst the Surrey and Hampshire countryside, with the additional benefit of being close to the centre of Farnham.
Established in November 2004 we have been running for now for 6 years, its flown by. At the very start extensive plans were put into place in preparation for the production of real ale. The first brew commenced at 5am, on a cold frosty morning on the 11th May 2005 and was aptly named Mr T’s Wedding Ale, which was enjoyed by our guests at our wedding which followed shortly thereafter. You may know of it as Mr T's Aniversary Ale.
Chrissy has learnt many skills to run the business, especially having managerial and administration skills to bring everything together to ensure that the business is conducted in an efficient and professional manner. Its having a versatility of skills from organising to design and brewing beer that makes it enjoyable.
Whilst we are renowned for producing a range of real ales which are packed full of flavour, Sober as a Judge remains our flagship beer. I use my wealth of knowledge in designing the recipes focussing on the consumer - this is evident in our many customers who have remained loyal throughout and return time and time again to replenish their stocks.
Finally the last member of the team is Ben our border collie, he is extremely friendly and enjoys being fussed over. All the other dogs on the farm are working border collies and enjoy having the ball thrown for them when they are not working!
Visiting the Crondall Brewery is a treat for the whole family. Just pop your head in the green door and we will always be happy to have a chat whilst serving you.
